43 AGOT Tyrion 6: Telling Bronn? After Jaime confessed to having hired Tysha for Tyrion and arranged the whole thing, Tywin gave her to his guards, paying her a silver for each. Tywin made Tyrion watch and go last.

"And he gave me a gold coin to pay her because I was a Lannister and worth more." 458

63 AGOT Tyrion 8: pgs 678-682 introduce Shae. Tyrion means to take her into his service, as he did Bronn, but Shae strips and gets started working on Tyrion without need for negotiation. He likes that she seems wicked. After their first time together, Tyrion feels comforted and whistles the song Tysha used to sing. But Shae is unsentimental, telling Tyrion he won't know if she doesn't cry for him. It makes her seem honest, but reveals her to be heartless.

70 AGOT Tyrion 9: Tywin knows about Shae. Tyrion decides to bring her with him to King's Landing.

77 ACOK Tyrion 10: Shae answers Varys's riddle by guessing the rich man lives, suggesting she is a gold digger. Tyrion intention to never bring her to the Red Keep shows he waffles in his defiance of Tywin. Shae puts on a show during their lovemaking and Tyrion reminds himself not to believe she enjoys herself with him.

"Fool, he thought to himself afterward, as they lay in the center of the sagging mattress amidst the rumpled sheets. Will you never learn, dwarf? She's a whore, damn you, it's your coin she loves, not your cock. Remember Tysha?" 69

82 ACOK Tyrion 11: When Slynt refers to Barra's mother as "only some whore" Tyrion thinks of Shae and Tysha and all the other women he's bedded. Later, when Varys says Barra's mother loved Robert, Tyrion asks if a whore can truly love anyone, deciding he'd rather not know. Tyrion craves Shae for comfort. He wants a loving wife. 132

103 ACOK 30 Tyrion VII: Masterful: After turning down Dancy's begging him, Tyrion realizes he's faithful to Shae. He thinks he hears Tysha's song in the street.

He reined up to listen. The tune was wrong, the words too faint to hear. A different song then, and why not? His sweet innocent Tysha had been a lie start to finish, only a whore his brother Jaime had hired to make him a man. I'm free of Tysha now, he thought. She's haunted me half my life, but I don't need her anymore, no more than I need Alayaya or Dancy or Marei, or the hundreds like them I've bedded with over the years. I have Shae now. Shae. 452

118 ACOK 45 Tyrion X: pgs 642-643 Tyrion tells Shae the story of Tysha's punishment to explain why they can never be married: "To drive the lesson home, Lord Tywin gave my wife to a barracks of his guardsmen to use as they pleased and commanded me to watch." 642 He can't bring himself to tell her how he was commanded to take her one last time, without tenderness, to know her as a whore.

Tyrion regrets telling Shae. "There were some secrets that should never be spoken, some shames a man should take to his grave." 643

128 ACOK 55 Tyrion XII Caught Slap: The chapter circles silently around the memory of Tysha. Tyrion's feelings of guilt and anger at false accusations are brought to the surface, building towards Tyrion's murder of Tywin.

141 ACOK 68 Tyrion XV Cut Off: In a milk of the poppy dream, Tyrion remembers his honeymoon, Tysha saying she liked his face. Then he sees his wound in the mirror and hopes he will dream of Tysha again. "i wonder how she'd like my face now, he thought bitterly." 941

Foreshadowing Tyrion's murder of Shae, he strangled Maester Ballabar with his own chain after mistaking him for the Tysha of his dream.

148 ASOS 5 Tyrion I The Dwarf Lives: Tywin uses his rage at Tyrion's open whoring to fuel a furious statement that Tyrion will never hold Casterly Rock to turn into his whorehouse. Tywin brings up Tysha and Shae. He swears he'll hang the next whore he finds in Tyrion's bed.

197 ASOS 54 Tyrion VI: Tywin says "The rape (of Elia)...even you will not accuse me of giving that command, I would hope." 719 Yet Tywin has repeatedly commanded Tyrion to do what it takes to impregnate hostage Sansa and importantly did command Tysha's rape. In 214 Tyrion 34, Oberyn tells Tyrion he believes Tywin commanded Elia's rape as vengeance for her marrying Rhaegar instead of Cersei. 969

203 ASOS 60 Sansa IV Gift Horse: Someone (Shae?) says to Sansa, of Ellaria Sand, "She was almost a whore when he found her, m'lady. And now she's near a princess." 805

210 ASOS 67 Tyrion IX Betrayal: After the first day of his trial, Tyrion thinks of Tysha: "The whore wife, not the wolf wife. Her love for him had been pretense, and yet he had believed and found joy in that belief. Give me sweet lies and keep your bitter truths. He drank his wine and thought of Shae." 903

212 ASOS 69 Sansa VI Lies and Love: Littlefinger tells Sansa Tyrion had a wife before her. Tyrion already told Sansa. "And did he tell you that when he grew bored with her he made a gift f her to his father's guardsmen? He might have done the same to you in time. Shed no tears for the Imp, my lady." 928

214 ASOS 71 Tyrion X Guilty: Shae's betrayal shocks Tyrion, but when he sees her marched out by the gold cloaks he comforts himself that Cersei will betray Shae. (paraphase): "You will get what you asked for, but before the moon has turned she'll have you entertaining the gold cloaks in their barracks. 963

221 ASOS 78 Tyrion XI Owed: Jaime tells Tyrion the truth about Tysha, that she was a crofter's daughtr met on the road by chance and not a whore he'd bought for Tyrion. Tywin commanded the lie. Tywin said Tysha was lowborn and Tyrion a Lannister of Casterly Rock. "All she wanted was the gold which made her no different from a whore, so...so it would not be a lie, not truly." 1065 Tyrion tells Jaime "He gave her to his guards. A barracks full of guards. He made me watch. Aye and more than watch." 1065
