Sharp Lesson to Joffrey

Great question! I think this is something we're meant to come to a conclusion about, but I am stumped.
I notice that, a little later in ASOS Tyrion XI, Jaime mentions the sharp lesson, too:
he said that you required a sharp lesson. That you would learn from it, and thank me later
Tywin pretended he was saving Tyrion from a gold digger who would shame him (like Shae) by having his marriage to Tysha anulled. Tyrion was supposed to thank Jaime after being happily married to a lady who would bring him a castle. But...that's preposterous. Tyrion has plenty of self-esteem and capability. He could have made a real go of it with Tysha and been happy with no castle or lordship or whatever.
I think maybe we're supposed to see Tywin's hypocrisy on display and imagine the sharp lesson for Joffrey to be similarly staged against a false pretext. Tywin says
"Be quiet, Cersei. Joffrey, when your enemies defy you, you must serve them steel and fire. When they go to their knees, however, you must help them back to their feet. Elsewise no man will ever bend the knee to you. And any man who must say 'I am the king' is no true king at all. Aerys never understood that, but you will. When I've won your war for you, we will restore the king's peace and the king's justice. The only head that need concern you is Margaery Tyrell's maidenhead.
I'm focusing on the "Don't be Aerys" idea. Maybe Tywin would wind up enacting something that looks like obvious revenge on Aerys, but on Joffrey. Still... not sure what that could be.
