223 ASOS 80 Jon XII: Ghost of Winterfell

Angrily remembering Robb echoing Catelyn's words that Jon would never be lord of Winterfell because a bastard, Jon is too fierce in training. Ghost returns and Jon realizes he'll turn Stannis down, especially knowing Stannis would require him to burn the heart tree of Winterfell. Unexpectedly, Jon is elected Lord Commander of the Night's Watch, instead.

1 Lord of Winterfell

1087 After a blow to the temple, Jon flashes on the hard memory of Robb chastizing him for innocent play.

1088 Jon almost hurts Iron Emmett

1089 In his mind, Catelyn's face reminds of Stannis's. Jon bathes, switching from cold tub to hot tub

1090 Jon is disturbed by Thorne and party. Bowen Marsh has a letter from Tywin naming Slynt his choice. And Tywin already beat Stannis. Jon leaves, driven from the baths,

1091 Jon walks beyond the Wall, through the remnants of wildling attack and asks himself if he'd rather be innocent and hanged for a turncloak or guilty and made to lord of a great castle, married to Val.

1092 As he's thinking, Jon gets strangely hungry, then sees Ghost. He immediately knows he'll turn down Stannis's offer.

2 Election Interference, but by who?

1093 A commotion in the dining hall. All eyes turn to Jon and Slynt and Thorne turn on him.

1094 Dolorous Edd put Jon's name forward. Slynt objects but is shut down by Pyke. The vote must be done before they eat. Othell Yarwyck removes himself and surprises everyone by switching his support from Slynt to Jon.

1095 The voting kettle is brought out and Sam cries "Lord Mormont's raven!" when a raven bursts out. The bird says "Snow" and lands on Jon. Thorne says it's trick by Sam, but Jon wins in a landslide.

1096 Pyp asks Sam how he did it and Sam denies having had anything to do with it.

1097 Jon prepares to give Stannis his answer.
