21 AGOT Eddard IV: Little Council

Ned arrives in King's Landing already late for the first meeting of the small council. He learns Robert has bankrupted the crown, but still means to throw away a fortune on a tourney in his honor. Littlefinger leads Ned to Catelyn, who he's hidden in a brothel. She begs him to learn who tried to kill Bran and to trust Littlefinger.

Scenes

1: You're Late: Despite being tired from the road, Ned must dress in borrowed clothing to attend an emergency small council meeting to throw a tourney designed to honor him.

2: Follow the White Rabbit: Litlefinger takes Ned the back way to one of his brothels.

3: Fortify the Northern Defenses: Ned gives Catelyn instructions to relay forward to his bannermen.

Mnemonic Titles

2026: Little Council: Ned attends the emergency council meeting to find Robert will not attend. It's Littlefinger's council, this day. The Lysafinger letter brought Ned to court and now Ned will learn why.

2023: Trusted Friend: Litlefinger has won Catelyn's renewed trust, but Ned is less sure about Robert. It seems Littlefinger would have Ned take accusations about Cersei to Robert, knowing the king has changed. Really, the investigation and Ned's intentions will provoke Cersei and she will defend so aggressively that war is certain.
