Bran's party has run out of food in the mountains. Fortunately, a fellow traveler invites them to share his fire in a cave and his board as well. Meera tells the story of the Knight of the Laughing Tree.

When There Was a Stark in Winterfell

The roads were safe. There was law in the land. The mountain clans leaders are not true lords, but more like kings. That's what it's like in the sparsely populated areas.

The Knight of the Laughing Tree

The only knights areound Greywater Watch are under the bogs, but Meera can tell one story about a knight. Bran is unimpressed with the story's ending. Bran thinks it should have been knights, not squires, who attacked the little crannogman and that he should have killed them for it.

Bran sees an eagle and fails to warg it.

Bran still yearns to be a knight, thinking "a day would be enough."
