A nervous wreck of worry by Bran's bed, Catelyn has insisted his wolf be kept outside. But she changes her mind after someone's catspaw tries to slit Bran's throat and his wolf saves both of their lives. Taking the knife, Catelyn travels to King's Landing to investigate.

Foreshadowing Warging

Robb reminds Catelyn Rickon needs her, but she begins to shake when he opens the window and she can hear Summer howling. Catelyn is not herself. She's been fixated on Bran. She cannot let go of his hand.

Ironies & Puns

The pun of Catelyn's hand and catspaw: like Bran's eavesdropping and Sansa's accessory to murder

Scenes

1: Robb confronts Lady Catelyn in Bran's room. Drawn away by fire in library

2: The Catspaw comes for Bran, but thought everyone would have gone to the fire

3: Catelyn's Small Council: Conclusion Jaime did it. Decision to travel to King's Landing

Mnemonic Titles

2019: Catspaw: Littlefinger's letter through Lysa was designed to provoke Catelyn to King's Landing. He likely hoped she'd accompany Ned as Lysa accompanied Jon Arryn. Whether or not he was involved with the catspaw scheme, Catelyn quickly enough found a reason to rush straight into Littlefinger's clutches.

2026: Open the Window and Close the Door: Catelyn is in a state of crisis and distress at Bran's bedside. She needs to sleep and clear her head. Instead, the catspaw comes and Catelyn must hold a council to decide what to do about the murder attempt on Bran.
